Who We Are

GeriActors is a not-for-profit company based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Our website (“the Site”) address is https://geriactors.ca.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act. We take every step and precaution to ensure information provided to us is stored in a secure location and used only with your consent. The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Personal Data

We may collect personal information on our website in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to placing an order through the Shop and filling out a form. Users may be asked for, as appropriate: name, email address, address, phone number. We collect personal information from users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can refuse to supply this information, but it may prevent them from receiving related services or engaging in related website related activities. When users participate in these aspects of the Site they acknowledge that they voluntarily submit any personal information collected by GeriActors by those means.

Usage Data

We may collect information on how the Site is accessed and used (“Usage Data”). Usage Data may include: your Internet Protocol address (“IP address”), browser type, browser version, the pages of the Site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

Cookies

Our website may use “cookies” to enhance the user’s experience. The user’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. Google explains how the cookies are used here. Users may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert them when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the website may not function properly.

If you visit our Shop login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

The Shop

We collect personal information during the checkout process on the Shop. When you make a purchase, we will ask you to provide personal information including: your name, address, email address, phone number, and credit card/payment details. We will use this information to:

  • Send you information about your order and user account
  • Respond to your requests (e.g. refunds)
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Set up your user account for the Shop
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have

While you visit the Site, we will track:

  • Products you’ve viewed to, for example, show you products you have recently viewed

For user accounts on the Shop, we will store the personal information provided for a period of one year for accounting purposes. This includes your name, address, email address, phone number. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Credit card/payment details are encrypted for security and stored on our website. We will store the credit card/payment details provided for a period of one year for accounting purposes.

Who has access to your data

Our Site administrators have access to the information you provide us in addition to our third-party suppliers (e.g. MailChimp).

To help fulfil orders, process refunds and support users, our Site administrators can access:

  • Order information (what was purchased and when it was purchased)
  • Customer information (name, address, email address, and phone number)

Mailchimp uses our contacts’ personal information to operate our mailing list and distribute our electronic communications. As more fully described in their Standard Terms of Use and Global Privacy Statement, they may also process personal information of our contacts for other business purposes including billing, administration, security, and product improvement.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on the Site you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you at any time. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Contact Forms

We collect personal information through our Contact Forms when users book a performance, workshop and/or listening session including: organization name, contact name, location, email address, and phone number. Any information provided through our Contact Forms is sent directly to a secure GeriActors staff email account. Information will be stored on our website for the duration of the booking process and then deleted.

Mailing List

We use MailChimp to operate our mailing list and electronic communications. MailChimp may store your personal information on servers around the world. To understand how your information is protected by Mailchimp, you can access their security policy here.

GeriActors’ electronic communications comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Users who subscribe to our mailing list acknowledge that they consent to GeriActors sending electronic communications including, but not limited to, our monthly newsletter and program updates. Users may unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link located at the bottom of each email and following the instructions.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages and Events on the Site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the user has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
