WORKSHOPS & CLASSES | MEET OUR FALL 2024 FACILITATORS

The facilitators for our workshops and classes are professional theatre practitioners with a great love of teaching and connecting to others through this discipline. Continue reading to find out more about the artists involved in our programming this fall.

PROCESS, PRESENCE & PLAY
Christine Lesiak (she/her) is an Edmonton amiskwacîwâskahikan-based theatre artist, and director of her independent theatre company, Small Matters Productions (www.smallmatters.ca). She specializes in collaborative writing and devising, audience experience design, interactive comedy, and physical storytelling. She is creator/co-creator/performer of all nine of Small Matters’ shows, most recently; The Spinsters (2023-24, Burnaby Centre for the Arts and Edmonton Fringe Theatre Season), and the interactive comedy hit, For Science! (touring, 2018-24). She is the recipient of an Alberta Playwright’s Network Prize for her play, The Space Between Stars, which premièred at the 2023 SkirtsAfire Festival. Christine holds a BSc in Physics, and Masters of Fine Arts in Drama from the University of Alberta, and has trained extensively in the Canadian/Pochinko style of clown with Jan Henderson (Fool Moon Productions), Michael Kennard (Mump and Smoot), and with comedy and physical theatre specialists from around the world. She was festival director of Play the Fool, Edmonton’s festival of clown theatre and physical comedy from 2017-24, in charge of programming and mentorship. She has taught within the Drama Department at the University of Alberta, Edmonton Digital Arts College, Toy Guns Dance Theatre, in public schools, and privately. SKETCH WRITING
Ellie Heath is a multidisciplinary artist based out of Treaty 6 Territory. She is a founding member of the award-winning sketch troupe, Girl Brain and a solo theatre creator, with her piece Fake n’ Bake earning critical praise across Canada, as well as 3 Sterling Award nominations. Heath has performed on most stages in Edmonton, and has had the opportunity to perform across Canada and the United States. Nikki Hulowski (Nikki Rae Hallow) is a professional actress, comedian, voiceover actor and revered acting coach based in Canada and the United Kingdom. A force to be reckoned with, Nikki’s dynamic and versatile performances have led her to international acclaim with multiple-award wins onstage, onscreen and behind the microphone. Honing her clown and improv-informed acting style, Nikki strives to encourage and create connected, heartfelt performances to allow audiences to share in the performance experience. A comedian at heart, Nikki performs live onstage as a co-founder of the internationally-acclaimed sketch comedy troupe, Marv n’ Berry, and improvises with DieNasty, the Improvised Soap Opera and Rapid Fire Theatre. Nikki can also be found behind the scenes writing for the screen and stage, and teaching her highly celebrated connection-based acting technique, On-Camera Connection, through ACTRA in Canada, and across the World.
