Organize a unique and engaging event for your community. Hosted by GeriActors, our listening sessions invite participants to listen to one of our audio plays. At the end of the play, participants are invited to stay and discuss the play, connect with fellow listeners, and share their own stories.
Listening sessions are approximately 45-60 minutes. Sessions can be hosted in person or virtually (on Zoom). Sessions are pay-what-you-can and available to groups of all ages and from anywhere in Canada.
Our Audio Plays:
- Way Back (30 minutes): A kaleidoscope of true stories – growing up during WWII, farm life in Alberta and Sri Lanka, birth and motherhood, growing up in Trinidad, and more – this play remembers the moments of joy, hardship and triumph we all experience.
- Reading the Signs (15 minutes): Just as they are inventing rear view cameras, warning buzzers for changing lanes, and self-driving cars, Jack has to give up driving.
- Spinning the Bottle (20 minutes): From the 60’s to today four people share their stories of coming out and finding their family.
- We Decide (25 minutes): Interweaving Shakespeare’s classic King Lear text with stories and commentary from our own lives, this play explores the themes of elder care, invisibility, and the maintenance of agency in later life.
